Meet Your Photographer: Joriana | Northern VA Baby Photographer

Any only child will tell you that being an “only” has distinct advantages and, perhaps, a few disadvantages. On the good (or maybe bad) side, we tend to be more mature than other children our age. This likely explains why my mother (Mindy) and I can run our business so smoothly together. I also think it’s why I love being a child photographer so much and what makes my mom and me such great photographers in the Dulles, VA, and Brambleton, VA area.

My love of baby and family photography

We pride ourselves on being a very client-centered business, and there’s no doubt that children and families have a special place in our hearts. I love shooting baby pictures maybe because I was raised an only child. Although an only child, I grew up in a loving home with my parents, grandparents, and great-aunt all living under the same roof!

I think having a big, close-knit family is why my mom and I are so good at family portraits. We feel right at home with families, large and small. And, not much will faze us when it comes to gathering a group of people all in one place!
 

What attracted me to photography

The ability to capture honestly emotional moments is what drew me to photography both as a documentary medium and as a profession. Growing up with grandparents and a great-aunt taught me to appreciate those who’ve come before me. In so many ways, they and others born before us cleared a path for those born after them.

Growing up with grandparents and great-aunt in my home taught me to appreciate the importance of family history. Hearing family stories about my great-grandparents meant so much to me. I try to convey that value in all of the family portraits we do today. Documenting your family’s story is one of the greatest gifts you make as an adult today for future generations!
 

It’s all about that photography!

My favorite type of photography today remains children and family photography. Both Mom and I thrive amidst families and that bit of chaos created in the midst of getting everyone ready, comfortable, relaxed and coordinated.
