Being a baby photographer here in the Leesburg, VA and Broad Run, VA areas, means we are a happily-busy studio with a broad client base – we love it that way! Most of the families we work with understand the value and importance of documenting their children’s lives through professional portraits. We are happy to help them. Our children are only children for so many years living with us, after all.

Sometimes, however, clients are concerned about the design aspect of their portraits. Where should they display their pictures? With maternity photography and even newborn photography, clients often find themselves at a loss as to where to display their pictures. We can help!

We use special interior design software to assist clients with their professional portraits. In a few simple steps, anyone can see what a particular portrait will look like on a wall without actually putting it up.

If you are wondering how this works, here’s a brief summary:

• As a client, you receive a “Let’s Decorate” ruler from us. You will tape that on a wall in your home.
• Snap a photo with our phone of that wall with the ruler in place.
• Send us, via text or email, those snapshots.
• We then upload your photos into our design software. With that, we can create various custom wall concepts sized specifically for your wall!

You get to see EXACTLY what the finished portrait will look like on your wall! It’s as simple as that. The design software takes the guessing out of the selection process. You can order your portrait knowing precisely what it will look like when you hang it up in your home.

As a longstanding baby photographer here in the Leesburg, VA and Broad Run, VA, we love helping you with your portraits and display options. We will work within your design tastes, styles, and preferences. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about our services and products. We can’t wait to work with you!

Family and Child Gallery Wall | Northern VA Baby Photographer

Family and Child Gallery Wall | Northern VA Baby Photographer

Family and Child Gallery Wall | Northern VA Baby Photographer

The very exciting thing about taking maternity photos here in the Leesburg, VA area is knowing that soon after our portrait sessions, new life will be brought into this world. Oh, how we love babies! So when clients ask us how they could use portraits to decorate their nurseries, we are all too happy to provide some ideas. Here are a few tips below.

Child’s Gallery Wall
Why not create a portrait gallery wall of your baby’s pictures? Start with a selection of newborn portraits. As you do more portraits of them (and you should), you can swap out a few for the more recent pictures. Through the years, the wall of portraits becomes a timeline of their childhood! It’s a touching way to show them how they’ve grown through the years.

Family & Child Gallery Wall
Another great idea is to create a family portrait gallery wall in your child’s nursery. You can blend your baby’s pictures with family portraits. It is a loving way to reflect your family while showing your child how proud you are of them. It demonstrates to your child how they are part of something bigger than just them. They are not alone!

Siblings
If there are siblings, it can be fun to display portraits of the siblings together in each other’s rooms. The only child has had pictures of herself in her room. When her new sibling is born, you add a portrait of the two of them into both the nursery and the older sister’s room. The new pictures are a terrific way to reflect the sisters’ new bond. As the girls grow, you continue to either add portraits or swap out portraits. Displaying siblings together in photos is a loving and touching way of emphasizing their love and their bonds. It also shows your children how much you value their relationship.

Other Ideas
If you would rather not display on walls, you can order albums for each child featuring an array of portraits of themselves, family, and siblings. A portrait album for each child becomes a treasured possession for them.

When each child is born, you can order a Portrait Cube. Save it until the day it can be displayed in their room with pride, love, and a tad bit of respect (no chewing on it!). One day they’ll enjoy seeing themselves on a nifty cube!

Coordinating Design
We can assist you with coordinating your wall art design by using our special software. We can help you coordinate any portrait session so that it blends smoothly and very well into any room or on any wall in your home! We do it very often for nurseries! With a little bit of planning, you can decide whether you want a black and white or color portrait for the nursery.

Is the nursery designed with a particular color theme? We can incorporate that into the portrait. In a yellow nursery, a newborn picture featuring one item in yellow will look spectacular on the nursery’s wall! The look is cohesive and smart.

Thinking of how to decorate your baby’s nursery with portraits can be a lot of fun and bring you a lot of joy. If you are doing your newborn and maternity photos with us here in the Leesburg, VA area, we can discuss how we can help you. If you would simply like to work with us to do your children’s portraits, we’d love to do that as well!

Saving Your Precious Portraits | Northern VA Newborn Photographer

Saving Your Precious Portraits | Northern VA Newborn Photographer

A portrait of your tiny newborn, held safe and secure in your loving arms, becomes a family heirloom to be treasured. Maternity photos beautifully portray your body in its final weeks of pregnancy when your curves are most defined. These are emotive portraits of you and the precious life you are carrying inside of you, as well as that precious newborn shortly after you’ve brought him or her into this world. Once we have taken these very special portraits, why would you allow the images to reside buried in a CD instead of a framed portrait displayed in your home? That is a question we will occasionally ask one of our clients here in Leesburg, VA.

While anyone could put portrait images onto a CD, we can’t understand why they would want to.

All portraits are special, but none is quite like newborn or maternity photos. A maternity portrait portrays one subject but truly features two – one of them being in-utero. That alone gives a profound depth and meaning to those pictures. A newborn portrait evokes the feelings of love you have every time you see it displayed upon the walls of your home, the home you’ve made for your precious child.

Deciding to print these photos means that you will enjoy them now and in years to come when that baby has grown up.

We have done enough newborn photography (and we are mothers, after all) that we know some feel it’s easiest just to request a CD of your pictures to have for late. You take the CD and promise yourself that you’ll order prints at a later date. However, as you raise your baby and life becomes busier, that CD collects dust and ages in your drawer! We know this because we have all been guilty of it in the past, and we hear it every day from our family clients.

You cannot hang a CD on your wall! You can, however, display a picture. At Ever After, all our products are rated to last more than 100 years, and we print everything on archival paper or other high-quality archival medium. These aren’t prints from your local pharmacy. These are professional fine art portraits you and your family can enjoy for many years, and pass down to the future generations.

The value of sitting for a portrait session can’t be found in a CD tossed into a drawer. The value is in that stunning portrait hanging on your wall for you and others to admire. The love and warmth of your family, of your newborn, or of your pregnancy radiates from that portrait in ways a CD could not.

Which would you rather have: a CD or a portrait displayed in your home?

If you would like to schedule or discuss newborn or maternity photos in the Leesburg, VA area, we’d be happy to speak with you. Please call or contact our studio. We can assure you that the beauty of your portraits will win you over and warm your heart each and every time you see them!

Tips for Your Maternity Portrait Session | Northern VA Baby Photographer

Tips for Your Maternity Portrait Session | Northern VA Baby Photographer

Tips for Your Maternity Portrait Session | Northern VA Baby Photographer

That baby bump is growing, and you’re glowing! Maternity pictures might be the last thing on your mind. However, we urge you to consider a portrait – especially if it’s your first pregnancy or you know it will be your only one. We have worked for more than a decade with maternity clients in and around the Broad Run, VA area. They all love their maternity portraits more than they ever imagined! We think you will too!

Some women feel great during their pregnancies, while others don’t. Either way, there are things you can do to prepare for your session with a portrait photography studio. Together, we can craft an artistically beautiful portrait you will appreciate and enjoy for many years.

We provide all the information you will need to have a delightful experience during your portrait session. However, we wanted to take the time to offer some tips through our blog!

When to do maternity pictures

Usually between a woman’s 31st and 36th week of pregnancy is an ideal time. You’re not yet feeling too uncomfortable, and it allows you enough time to review and order your portraits.

Your session is your session!

We want you to share any ideas you have with us before your session. We suggest telling us during your initial chat. If you have thoughts on poses, props, clothes, or a location you’d like, share them with us. Let us know. Each client is different, and this session is all about YOU!

Three’s good company!

There is no need to come alone. You can bring your husband and your older children if you like. We can even include them in the session! We can do the pictures with your children first so that you can arrange for someone to pick them up following their portraits.

What to do with your maternity portraits

What do you plan on doing with your portraits? We offer a vast array of high-quality products, and we’re happy to show them to you. However, it’s a good idea to tell us in advance of your session what you plan on doing with your pictures. As a maternity portrait, we have some flexibility. It can make a difference if you plan on displaying the picture in your private spaces (dressing room/master suite) or if you plan on displaying them in the public areas of your home (living room, etc.). Perhaps you want an album or a portrait box.

It is your body! Relax!

The more relaxed you are, the better the portraits will turn out. We want you just to enjoy the session and let us do all the work. An experienced maternity photographer knows how to make sure their client feels comfortable. They will go out of their way to ensure you feel safe and relaxed. We know that our bodies change in many ways during pregnancy, and women aren’t always comfortable with those changes. We’ll talk about your comfort levels and poses which can ensure you feel comfortable.

Clothing before you arrive

Some maternity clothes will leave marks – such as elastic waistbands. We recommend not wearing any such clothing that day before your session, and that could include things like your bra, socks, tight underwear, etc. Just wear loose clothes.

Strike a pose

We should discuss individual poses and ideas for your maternity pictures. We can discuss what types of poses you are comfortable with, colors, lighting, if you’d like a more conservative look, or a romantic soft look, etc. We want you to love your portrait, so we’re happy to work with your vision for it!

More than one outfit

We suggest to clients that they bring more than one outfit to their session. We’ll give you some guidance about fabrics and styles. We also provide outfits as well. The best pictures are ones where the belly is visible or at least outlined under the fabric. It is all about that baby bump! If you have any flowing garments or wraps, bring them along! It’s good to experiment with several outfits during your session.

Extras and Props!

Bring any props or accessories you like: a piece of heirloom jewelry, earrings you love, baby shoes you’ve purchased, something from your childhood, etc. Be as creative as you like! If you need ideas, just ask us!

Let us be your photographer in the Broad Run, VA area for your maternity pictures! We have years of experience working with women during their pregnancies to capture their beautiful bodies.
